Hello lovelies!
I hope everyone is having a spectacular autumn so far and are gearing up for Thanksgiving—the yummy feast, the delectable pies, the time with dear family and friends, the moment to relax and remember all you’re grateful for…and then there’s the shopping many of us dare to do the following day. What do I have to say to that? I say, bring on the holidays!
I love everything about this time of year, even the stretchy pants. (Erm…I love the pants themselves that stretch, not the fact that the pants actually have to stretch.) Anyway, this year I am really ready to celebrate Thanksgiving! It has been seven (count with me, seven!) years since I’ve had a good ol’-fashioned American Thanksgiving and this year we’re making sure that count doesn’t become eight. I just can’t muster the Lust (German-Ami word works best here) to throw a Tofurkey log into the oven, fail at making green bean casserole with cream of asparagus soup substitute, bake a Martha Stewart pumpkin pie from scratch for about five weeks and end up eating seven of the eight slices all by myself… No, it’s time for Thanksgiving, American-style, the way it was intended!
My husband and I are very excited to leave chilly Berlin for a couple of weeks and fly to LA to spend the holidays with family. And, well, we’ll probably lounge by the pool and get our shopping on, too. I mean…naturally! I am SO excited! (And, I’m going to be taking a trek to Santa Barbara for some book research and an upcoming project…will tell you more about that later!)
