Hey There! Everyone enjoying the holiday season? Needing to bundle up for the winter? I certainly am here in snowy Berlin. Well…it’s a very light dusting of snow. But snow just the same! Some friends back in Oklahoma have said that it’s spring-time weather right now and those winter coats are still locked up tight. I couldn’t imagine.
~Snow in Berlin!~
So last week I shared 5 of my favorite reads of the year so far, and now I’ll share 5 that I’m looking forward to reading in 2013. Like my 5 fave of this year, it was tough to choose only 5 that I’m eager to read, but I did it. Has anyone read any of these?
1. My Life in France, by Julia Child
2. Tony Wheeler’s Badlands, by Tony Wheeler (the Lonely Planet dude)
Psst. Inspirational read as I plot the fifth book in my When Girlfriends... series. And no, I'm not going horror or something scary on you. LOL
3. The Casual Vacancy, by J.K. Rowling
4. Where We Belong, by Emily Giffin
5. Paris to the Moon, by Adam Gopnik
I also mentioned that I’d blog about my NaNoWriMo work. National Novel Writing Month takes place every year in the virtual world during November, where writers (accomplished, aspiring, and everyone in between and around) pledge to spend thirty days (or less) writing 50,000 words (or more) in order to say, “I’ve written a novel!” I entered into the NaNo world for the first time this year and it was a blast.
I went in to NaNo wanting not to only complete it, but to double the word count. I also wanted to write an entire novel during NaNo. I wanted the fourth book in my When Girlfriends… series to be a total NaNo baby and guess what? I did it! In 29 days I wrote over 121,000 words and have finished the rough draft of my fourth chick lit. It’s been a week since I crossed that finish line and I’m still a bit pooped, but oh, it was so worth it!
And now, since there’s always work to be done, I’m busily working on the post-beta edits of the third book in the series. One beta reader of mine said it’s my best piece yet and boy am I jazzed to share it with you. It looks like in January I’ll have the next book out! Yippee!!
Well the Lovefilm people have delivered The Avengers, and I’ve been told that if I liked Batman and Iron Man, then I’ll love this new one. I love Batman, even if I thought the last one was a little too dark. And I honestly don’t remember Iron Man, but I think I liked it. Well, I’m really excited about The Avengers nevertheless.
Will be back very soon with some holiday-ish stuff from Berlin.
Until then, Happy Reading!
Note: A portion of all of my book sales this month will be donated to the American Red Cross for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. Because every little bit helps.
